HELP!!! The Marine vs Hot Work Boy...Tonight!!!

Ok everyone, this is not going to be well written, may not even make sense but I’m trying to type as fast as my mind is racing and my heart is beating.  I’m totally freaking the fuck out and I need your opinion!!

So, the end of my epic weekend involved the Arts and Music Festival in Hoboken along with run-ins with Dipshit and a few of his friends one who almost literally knocked me over (and by run-ins I mean I saw them, don’t know if they saw me but no conversation was had, no one ran in the other direction, no eye contact made…so yeah probably the best way that could have happened)…there was delish festival food which always turns me into a piglet and then drinks.

Obviously there would be drinks.  KK, new friend Miss and I went over to McSwiggin’s after a failed attempt on the rooftop of the Dubliner (that place has turned into a huge disappointment, including my date with the Rival, who btw has resurfaced with a couple of random txts, weirdo).  After scoping out the men I went and hunted down a table.  I was successful and also managed to catch the eye of not one but two hotties (one who happens to be a Marine)…who were clearly friends since they were chatting and sitting at the same table (duh).  I later learned one had texted the other saying he thought he was getting "looks" from me hahahah...boys!!

Well cutting out all the in between bullshit  after about 3 beer towers, numerous irresponsible drinking games and lots of laughs we made our way inside and the Marine and I started getting close.  Before I knew it we were making out at the bar, chatting away and having a blast.  Eventually he blurts out that he’s normally not so forward but he really wants to spend the night with me.  What is with guys these days???  I’m not complaining…just totally surprised.  He was saying its my “patriotic duty” to sleep with him since he is a Marine and is going off to Afghanistan in less than a month…and yes, despite killing bin laden he is still going.  Funny.  He was trying to convince me to stay in Hoboken for the night but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

He walked me to my car when I left and asked about my plans for the rest of the week and promised to see me again.  Apparently when he went back to the bar after walking me out he went up to KK who was still there and told her “I really like your friend”…how sweet.  Well everyone…this is what its all supposed to look like…we chatted through Monday and he made plans to take me to dinner on Tuesday.  So this is what a guy who is interested in a girl is supposed to do…what all the books, “experts”, etc tell you about.  So, I kind of cancelled the dinner idea but offered ices instead.  He came to pick me up, rang the bell and opened the door for me…we shared ices and then went for a few drinks.  I know he was undressing me with his eyes the whole time and I have to tell you, I didn’t even care.  It was sexy and I was enjoying his company more then I can say.

He asked to see me again Wednesday night but he had dinner plans with friends in the city pretty late and there was no way I’d be up for going out to the city at that time.  We tried to hang out last night but we were in different places and it was tough.  Now comes tonight.  He told me he really wants to see me before he leaves and is looking into changing his flight tomorrow (yes, he leaves tomorrow) so we can spend a little more time together.

I had plans with friends in Hoboken tonight so he said he’d get a room in the W (yes that implies what you think) and asked if I could take him to the airport the next day.  I have NEVER taking a guy to the airport and I always imagined thats reserved for girlfriends and family.  Just imagining bidding goodbye to a Marine after spending what I'm sure will be quite a passionate evening with him and sending him off to war just tickles me in all sorts of ways...it seems ridiculous and like, ummm is this my life?  Who is scripting this???  This doesn't happen in real life, I'm sorry.  Wow, just breathe.  Its all completely fascinating and seems unreal.  Like this should be in some cheesy book or Nicholas Sparks movie. Now don't get me wrong I'm not thinking this is necessarily romantic or that this guy will sweep me off my feet...there is just something really exciting about it.  Not sure why...

Here is my dilemma.  Pre-Marine, there is a guy I’ve known for a long time…Hot Work Boy…he and I have this unresolved romance.  From the second we met at work there was sexual tension and so much attraction.  Basically our MO is to hang out and make out.  I don’t think there has been a time we’ve hung out that our lips haven’t locked.  We’ve never done more, I think I’ve only seen him with his shirt off in pictures but we’ve both talked about wanting to.  Recently he’s been texting me asking why we’ve never dated, why we’re both so hot and still single and expressing how much he wants to “smush” me…there we go again with the sex and the jersey shore…sensing a pattern???

Anyway, he lives in LI and spends a bunch of time in Hoboken and we haven’t seen each other in quite a while.  So earlier this week he asked to see me tonight and made plans for a night out in the boken.  FUCK!!!  So, now I have Hot Work Boy and the Marine both wanting to see me tonight and I’m completely torn about what to do.  I’ll be honest, I wish I could hang out with both, go back to the W with the Marine and have some posh overnight love affair, never having Hot Work Boy find out about it and pick up normal life once the Marine ships off.  Reality says that will never happen.  One good thing and plus with Hot Work Boy is that he's not going anywhere...he'll be here and I know I'll see him again.  This doesn't make my decision any easier.

The Marine texted me earlier telling me that he really likes me and thinks I’m a really great girl and that he’s not trying to hang out with me just for sex.  That he really enjoys talking to me and thinks I’m a lot of fun.  While that is sweet a part of me can’t help but want to scream bullshit…this reads I want sex before I go to war all over it.  I mean he was even joking about how he needs to have “good bye good luck” sex.  All in good fun I suppose but its still my life we’re messing with.  So while I do believe he likes me I can’t imagine that I’d hear from him again or see him again for that matter…but he could prove me wrong, he seems to have that potential.

So, what do you all think?  What should I do?!?!  Help!!!!

Waiting...Not Winning

A very unhappy hump day to all!

Sorry for the less then stellar greeting but I'm not exactly in the best of moods at the moment.  I'm frustrated.  I'm irritated.  I'm so sick of fucking dating.

I'm considering giving up on online dating.  I haven't been all that "dedicated" to it recently like I was and no good has come of it yet (I don't consider an extremely long string of first dates good!)

I'm just in a shit mood...no thanks to the weather...or the three...thats right THREE people I know who got engaged in the past week..OR the fact that I haven't heard from the Rival since Friday.  I know that not a terribly long time and I know no matter how many other excuses I can make thats really whats bugging me at the moment...but despite all that not seeing his name pop up on my phone in almost a week has gotten under my skin.  Yes, it was one date so I'm not hung up on him...just more wondering why he's gone MIA...stupid jerk.

I know I could probably just bite the bullet and contact him myself...but there is something to be said about the guy making the effort.  And I was the last one to text so "technically" it was his turn to reply.  Oh what to do!!!!

This all sounds completely fucking ridiculous as I type it...makes me want to vomit on my keyboard actually.  Frankly I hate these stupid fucking dating games and don't want to take part in them.  I just want to meet someone and skip this other crap and go right to spending lazy mornings in bed.  Can we make that happen??

So I don't know what I'm going to do...or should do, what the fuck there isn't really any "shoulds" in dating...but yeah, can't decide.  I have a feeling that if I text something fun and clever he'll respond...then I'll spend the next day or so kicking myself for being so impatient and not waiting to see if he was going to text me on his own (which undoubtedly kicks way more ass then me taking initiative)...then again is it impatient if I haven't heard from him in 4 days.  But then if I don't text him I subject myself to being caught up in my own head until either I do actually hear from him or something new and shiny passes my eyes.  Naturally there is the possibility he's changed his mind and "is just not that into me", which is cool...he's probably covering at least half that book right now...not asking me out, not sleeping with me, not whatever the fuck else he should be doing...but knowing that doesn't make me enjoy this dating shit any more.

Funny thing is that even if I did hear from him I couldn't see him till next week anyway since I'm completely booked till then.

Damn...dating makes you dumb!!!

Welcome Guest!!!

My motivation recently for anything other then Zumba has been fairly limited.  Trying to get my routines down, go on auditions and get my classes started has been nothing short of exhausting.  My entire body hurts right now...I have shin splints and sore muscles.  I am in great shape but doing hours and hours a night of Zumba is not normal and now I suffer.

On top of that I pretty much partied myself sick.  No not hangover sick but like sinus infection sick.  No sleep with lots of drinking, dancing and not eating much will actually run you down...where is my college tolerance...what the fuck.

Anyway, I owe you all some amazing stories from Mexico as well as my recent adventures during a Bachelorette party (which involves a Bachelor from London) and a 30th Birthday for Gryph in the Poconos.

In the meantime, I leave you with a guest post which is delayed since our fabulous poster had a brain fart and forgot to send it to me when he was supposed to.  Because I love him and his blog (I've never met him so its a blog crush obvi) I forgive him & want to share the post with you anyway.

The blogger is Jeremy from Dear ExGirlfriend.  The format for his blog is super creative and seriously entertaining since he basically writes letters to girls he dates recounting the date, how he felt, how he think she felt and so on.  Its great insight into a guys mind post date and you get a really great feel of what a funny, sincere and sweet man he is...as well as how he is genuinely just as clueless about dating as the rest of us.  Its truly refreshing because I feel too many people try and act like experts and gives all these rules, guidelines, tips and tricks for dating but the fact is none of us know what the fuck we're doing.  We go out there and bullshit our way through until we have that ah-ha moment when we say "oh ok, this is cool...this is working" with someone. And then you get to navigate a relationship...woo!

Anyway, thank you to Jeremy for being so real...I heart it and appreciate & I know you all will too!  So, enjoy his post and make sure you hop on over and check out his blog after!!

"some people play hard to get. i play hard to want."

Dear Katie,
We went on a few dates this fall, and immediately two things were extremely clear to me: 1. you are a tease and 2. you like to play ‘the game.’  I’ll forgive you for item #1, after all 98% of females I know are teases on some level.  In fact, most of you don’t even know you are doing it consciously so it’s not as if I can actually blame you.  Although next time you are on a THIRD date with someone who buys you an expensive dinner and takes you to a romantic comedy he didn’t want to see (starring Justin effing Long), AND you bring up how much you enjoy a good make out session…don’t act all shocked and awed when he tries to kiss you goodnight.  Ok, now that I’ve got that out of the way, let’s move on to the game…

It’s actually hard for me to describe the game, because not only do I not play it, I don’t even really know how to play it if I wanted to.  Why is that, you might ask?  I don’t even know what the effing game is.  What I do know is that I apparently suck at it.  How do I know this? You told me so.

Before I forget I must thank you for being extremely informative, even if you were kind of a bitch about it.

I promise I wasn't
even going to open my mouth...

After the first couple times we went out, I realized that I was definitely into you, and unfortunately I made that too clear.  I did not text/email/call/facebook chat/gchat you 17 times a day, or anything remotely along those lines.  Instead, after it had been a week or so since we hung out I said, “You know I had a really good time hanging out with you last week, I’d like to take you on more of a date date this weekend…dinner and a movie, or something like that.”  So, we went to dinner and a movie…where the story from the first paragraph about me buying you dinner, you talking about how much you like making out, etc etc, may or may not have happened.

That was the last time we hung out.  It had nothing to do with me being overly-aggressive (in your terms) by trying to kiss you goodnight.  Forwhat it’s worth, I’ll tell you my mindset again – we had been out three times, it was a brightly lit parking lot with other people leaving the movie, all I wanted was to give you a quick kiss on the lips; I wasn’t going to ram my tongue down your throat.  But that wasn’t it, apparently I played my cards too early, you told me.  I made it obvious that I enjoyed your company, simply by telling you that I, in fact, enjoyed your company.  There was no chase in it for you.  I should’ve played hard to get, or something like that.

Anyway, as much as I enjoyed our few dates, I’m glad you told me that; because no offense, I would never want to spend too much time with someone who has that mindset.  I don’t think you are a bad person or anything, like I said before, ‘the game’ just isn’t for me.  I tell people how I feel, not in an overly melodramatic way, but the same rule applies: if I like you, I like you.  I’m going to want to hang out because I enjoy hanging out with you; I’m not going to sit on my hands and pretend I don’t so you somehow like me more.
Of course, if I don’t get laid anytime soon I might have to change my ways.  Kidding, I promise.

Hope you win your next ‘game,’

Player ( get it – like, ‘don’t hate the player hate the game…)

*The Adventures of Ford Fairlane – yup, I quoted an Andrew Dice Clay movie.

How Cheeky!!!

Well, yesterday was Valentine’s Day…I didn’t want to address it yesterday because frankly I didn’t give a shit and being single somehow it just wasn’t registering on my radar.  Of course I knew it was coming up but I actually almost scheduled a date with someone for Monday not even realizing it was Vday.  If Patches hadn’t said something when I hung up the phone with him I may have ended up on this date feeling completely foolish.  Needless to say the date did not and will not happen for reasons other than the fact that it was Valentine’s Day…let’s just say when we spoke on the phone I could barely make out anything after Hi.  He had the thickest accent, from I can’t remember where, and we were having an extremely difficult time understanding each other.  Plus he was boring.  So case closed.

But now allow me to entertain you with a tale from a date that did actually happen.  He is 30, used to be a Chef and is now in charge of all the food, catering, event planning etc for a major law firm (I believe).  We had hilarious, sweet and sometimes long conversations.  From the phone he seemed like a total catch.  I was so excited to meet him.  We made tentative plans for Thursday since I was extremely sick and had a ski weekend planned that I didn’t want to miss.

Well Thursday came and while I was feeling better I actually ended up working from home that day because NY got pounded with snow again and I was not about to try and shovel my car out of the driveway and down the block again.  I was in limbo all day about whether or not I would postpone.  By the time I had to get ready the streets had all been plowed, I was all packed and said fuck it since I really wanted to meet him.  I was looking forward to it with one exception…he made dinner reservations.  Now it was restaurant week which I love love love…but this was a first date.  For those who have been around a while you know my feelings on this.  For those who haven’t let me explain…I hate doing dinner on first dates.  I feel a first date should be short-ish, sweet and nothing crazy.  And yes, dinner is crazy.  Some people don’t mind but personally I’d rather not ask ‘get to know you’ questions while trying to navigate my way around my entrĂ©e.   That coupled with the fact that I hate eating in front of people I don’t know is part of why I tend to veer away from dinner on first dates.

Anyway, I decided it was too cold, too snowy and I was far too lazy to take public transportation into the city…that coupled with the fact that word was the schedules were all fucked up anyway so I didn’t want to deal with that if I didn’t have to.  Driving it was.  On my way in I was excited to meet Chef and simultaneously stressed I’d never be able to find parking amongst the mounds of snow (I love the way my brain works).  Luckily I had no issues parking and found a perfectly plowed and legal spot (which I didn’t even have to pay for – this is HUGE) right across from the restaurant.  We had planned to meet earlier then our reservation because Chef was going to show me around Eataly.  I had never been but its all the rage right now and being able to get shown around by someone from the culinary world was amazing.  I was in a food paradise.  For my NY readers…if you have the opportunity definitely go check it out.  There are so many options to sit and eat as well as shop.  It almost reminded me of an Italian Wegmans.  I could have easily just continued the rest of the date there.  Instead we headed out to SD26 for our reservation.

As we were walking there I made a simple observation…Chef saw my outfit and commented on the boots I was wearing (ones with heels)…and yet as we are navigating the snow/slush/ice covered sidewalks and street corners he never once tries to make sure I don’t slip and crack my head.  There was fucking slush oceans at the corners when we had to cross and he just watched as I ballerina leaped over them.  Thank god for all the years of dance I took that I was able to successfully leap, gracefully, no less over the slushy abyss.  Yeah, don’t worry about me, ass.

We walk into the restaurant and I begin watching Chef closely…waiting for a particular moment.  Which moment you may ask?  The one in which he takes his hat off.  Why?  Well, in his profile he had a hat on in every single picture.  I didn’t think much of this at first and after revisiting his profile a couple of times (anyone who does online dating is probably familiar with this move…you just need to keep brushing up on what they say…or double check that they are still cute) it started to occur to me…oh shit I wonder if he’s bald.  Well, here we are checking in with the host and I can see his hand, nearly shaking, slowly heading to grab his hat.  And BAM!!!  There it was.  A perfectly shiny, top of his head.  Now, to be fair, he’s not completely bald…though it would be better if he were.  He’s got that situation going on (not sure if there is an actual name for it) where he’s bald on top and has the remaining ring of hair on the bottom…thank god he didn’t attempt a comb over.  But ladies take note…if a guy is wearing a hat in every single picture I’d say chances are he’s hiding something (or he just likes hats but that’s boring)!

Now, please don’t think I’m an asshole for all of this.  I find nothing wrong with being bald and sympathize with men who are losing their hair, especially at such a young age…Chef is only 30 (and a lot of what he has left is going grey so double sucks for him there).  In fact my sister’s boyfriend is bald…by choice really…he bics his head because I think some of his hair was thinning so he just said screw it and went bald.  I think that all men should do that.  It tends to look a lot better than trying to hold on to and salvage whatever little suckers are trying to hold on.  Frankly, I find anything else distracting.

And that’s exactly what happened.  We’re sitting down at our table and having lovely conversation.  Truly good banter back and forth.  Yet I’m so insanely distracted by his head…think the mole scene in Austin Powers.  It was awful.  I opted to focus more on the food and the wine which, by the way you order on an IPAD!!!!  This was seriously fucking cool…the waiter comes and brings an ipad to your table and you can order your wine from it and magically someone then brings it to you.  Technology meets fine dining…amazing.

So, our meals come and I had made an agreement to try one of the things he ordered.  Never blindly agree to try something a former Chef orders!  Because what did I get to taste…oh yes, cheek.  Fucking CHEEK!!!!  Who eats shit like that?  Well, I’ll be honest…it wasn’t the worst tasting thing I’ve ever tried…frankly, I’d have another piece of that before I eat a mushroom…but it had a weird after taste…almost like blood or something. Barf.  But hey, I was adventurous and tried something new so go me! And thanks to the Chef for the encouragement.

As we leave the restaurant after a very lovely meal, damn your stupid hair Chef for tainting my attraction, he does the gentlemanly thing of walking me to my car (right across the street and a few feet down the block).  A part of me knew that he was probably hoping for a kiss and the other part knew he’d be left disappointed.  But all that thinking was quickly surpassed by what I saw when I walked up to my car…

It was SMASHED!!!!  Someone hit it and left the scene.  No notes, no sorry, no chocolates or flowers because they felt bad.  Just my bumper nearly falling off, the lights smashed and my trim in the middle of the street.  How could someone DO THIS?!?!?  My car is practically brand new, I just leased it in June and someone had just rear ended me a month ago so WHAT THE FUCK?!?  Its like karma was kicking my ass for something I did that I can’t remember.

So, I did my best to play it cool while the Chef was still there and immediately went to call my insurance company.  I told him he didn’t have to stay because I had no idea how long this would take.  The agent answered really quickly and as I tried to talk to her and hug Chef goodbye he still had the balls to try and go in for a kiss.  Really dude, REALLY??  Not exactly the right time.

The Juicy Details:  I felt so terrible for just dismissing Chef the way that I did.  I didn’t even properly thank him for dinner (which he paid for) and an all in all nice evening…which is so not like me.  Just the stressful situation got the best of me and I really wanted him to leave before I either flipped my shit or burst into tears.  I do not need someone I just met seeing me like that nor feeling like he needs to somehow “deal with” that.  So I sent him a text the next day apologizing and saying I had a lovely time, thank you  blah blah.  He wished me a happy ski weekend and asked me to keep him updated about what I was doing.  Umm, no.  we just met I will not be checking in or updating you.  Sorry.  He did try to call me the following week but despite the hair situation, which I’m sorry again, definitely dulls my attraction (to each his own yes?) please don’t think I’m an asshole…I just wasn’t feeling it.  He’s a really great guy…just not meant to be my guy.

Mix Well, Let Simmer...

They say good things come to those who wait…and I waited…and man were things oh-so-good.  Two long weeks which included a crap ton of social obligations, even more personal errands, one miserable experience and a make-myself-feel-better shopping excursion of epic proportions went by before I saw Sauce again.  A BBM chat about nothing of any significance turned into me driving over to his apartment looking forward to finding comfort and distraction with him.

As usual Sauce came outside to meet me when I got there, which I find to be such a gentleman-like thing to do, and plants the sweetest kiss on me as we hug hello…Hellooo to you too Sauce ;)  We sit on the couch side by side…for some reason no matter how much room we have we always sit practically on top of each other.  Sauce has this sweet way of draping his hand over my leg when we are sitting and chatting…its such a subtle, gentle way of making contact and letting me know I’m on his mind and I’m not gonna lie, I totally adore it.  Then he starts asking me about what happened at work because he wants to know who he needs to kill for fucking with his girl (don’t misread that for girlfriend…he just means a girl he cares about)  So, I tell him just enough and its nice to talk to him because he’s wonderful at listening but I make sure not to say too much since him being a former Marine (girls, you’ve got to see this guy in uniform) and a current cop I fear he would actually hurt someone who wronged me given the opportunity.  No joke.  I find no reason to add fuel to his fire.  Once all that is out of the way we are just relaxing watching tv and the next thing I know Sauce says “So how long do I have to wait for you to kiss me?”  And before I even have an opportunity to answer its game on!!

He pulls me from my spot on the couch over to him and before I know it my legs are wrapped around his waist, his arms are around mine and we are almost instantly hot and breathing deeply.  I swear to god this man turns me on like no other.  I’ve known him since I was 16 and this has never changed.  So there we are just taking in every moment of every kiss.  The next thing I know he’s standing up with me still wrapped around him and carries me to his room.  I have never felt so light (he carried me like I weighed 2lbs) and desired (who knew a guy carrying you to bed is just as hot as it seems in the movies).

Now we are just rolling around on the bed like high school kids making out like the world depended on it.  All the while our clothes are all on, our hands are behaving and yet we are sweating, panting and incapable of stopping.  Once in a while we pause to smile, lock eyes and take in what’s happening.  He mentions at one point how he’s been chasing me forever and can’t believe we are here in this moment right now.  And I’ll be honest, I couldn’t either.

I don’t think I have ever been as turned on as I was that night just from kissing in such innocent ways.  Perhaps the innocence of being completely clothed and knowing we weren’t going to sleep together helped make it as steamy as it was.  I can’t even imagine what it would be like if we ever actually rip each other’s clothes off and proceed to devour each other bit by bit.  I’d never forget that night, that’s for sure.

The Juicy Details:  The few times either of us actually said anything Sauce managed to sneak in there how much he wanted me to spend the night.  It put such a smile on my face each and every time he said it.  At one point while we were finally catching our breaths and our limbs were all tangled we both fell asleep.  I could have stayed there till forever.  It felt so comfortable, so sweet, so exactly what I needed…but I decided it would be best for me to go home…but not before Sauce had the chance to strike up a very interesting conversation.  He said to me how he thinks this could be really great…and naturally I agreed.  But then put him on the spot a little and said…”this what...us making out?”  he says “well yeah but more than that just us spending time together.”…my heart literally stopped.  He then tells me he wants to see me as much as possible (which for us isn’t too much because of our schedules which I’ve told you about before)…and that he wants to take things slow and see where they go.  So to make sure I’m not delusional and dreaming and making shit up in my head (I’ve been known to do this) I clarify…”see where they go how?  You mean like dating?”  Sauce: “Yeah”  Deep breath.  Certainly part of me was thinking this may happen based on our past conversations but the other half, the part with the logic and the strength thought it was a ridiculous notion…him wanting to date me.  But no, apparently it wasn’t ridiculous.

I will just clarify that I do not consider us exclusive, hell I don’t even consider us to be dating at this point.  We will hang out and see what happens.  I have no expectations whatsoever.  In fact, I feel like he’ll just forget about the conversation and that will be that.  (just an fyi we were both stone cold sober when all this happened)  I don’t know it just all seems too easy and a part of me is apprehensive, nervous….terrified.  I still don’t know what I want, but I’m not going to pass this up.  It’s wonderful that we’ll take it slow because it will give me, hopefully, enough time to figure this and myself out.  I’m actually going away for 9 days tomorrow and will (fingers crossed) see Sauce tonight before I go…and lets hope while I’m gone he doesn’t miraculously meet someone else squashing this entire thing before it really even began.  Damn it bad timing!!!

But anyway, ladies and gentlemen….Sauce just got spicy!!! ;-)

PS - I would just like to enlighten you all about a little something I learned from Sauce that night...he would gently pull down my bottom lip and kiss/lick the inside of it...it sounds weird and seemed insane at first...but then i realized it was amazing...I dont know if there are a bunch of nerve endings in there or something but wow!!!  Go, try this now.  Your welcome.

Its Getting Hot in Here...

Picture this: cool, crisp, NY October night…two perfectly chilled glasses of wine…one steaming hot tub…two friends enjoying all of it with ever mounting sexual tension between them.  I’d like you to meet Sauce.  A Marine turned NYPD.  He’s hot, insanely fun, amazing abs, a great cook, adorable smile, hot (yes, it needs to be repeated), totally into his family…and I think you get the idea.  I’ve known him since we were 16.  We met through a mutual friend who I worked with at the Y (and kind of dated) and he went to high school with.  For as long as I’ve known him we’ve always had this really natural way (of not being able to keep our hands off each other) about us.  There is just a lot of really great chemistry there…on all levels.  Conversation flows and we just always seem to get each other.  There is a lot of mutual respect for one another and the way we live our lives.  And you can’t deny the attraction.  We have this “issue” where we can’t seem to hang out without the night culminating with a high school style make-out session.  And really, who wouldn’t love that?  We’ve never dated, never slept together, hell I don’t think he’s ever even touched my boobs (and that’s an accomplishment since they are one of my most complimented assets!)  Our wandering hands and kisses  always seem to land in PG places…how we resist I don’t know…but I think this goes back to the respect we have for each other.  There is nothing more either of us want to do some of times we are together then rip each other’s clothes off.  But we don’t.  We are traditional and old school like that…with each other and not necessarily with others, for whatever reason.

Last week I was hit with some interesting BBMs from Sauce.  Basically telling me he still really wants me and he thinks we’ve always had chemistry and well, we’ve never both been completely single before…so we should see what happens.  Now let me just clear this up and say neither of us have EVER cheated…by completely single we mean that in the past when we were single it was always during those few months between break ups with our ex’s when we really didn’t know if it was really over of if we’d end up back together.  So yes we were technically single but still in some fucked up emotional limbo.  Whatever, details.  I must have read our conversation over about a dozen times to make sure I was getting it all in.  Was Sauce trying to tell me he wants to date me?  Was he just being his normal flirty self?  Am I completely reading into this because I haven’t had a really amazing date in a while and all I want to do is punch my ex in his stupid motherfucking face?  Maybe, maybe not…to all the above.

We had plans last night for me to go to his place and hang out in the hot tub.  Really, who would turn that down?  Wine, hot guy, hot tub…fucking duh.  It was awesome.  We talked and talked and talked.  And drank.  And I can see us moving closer and closer.  My life: the movie.  He was describing to me how there are 3 things which are 100% nonnegotiable for him when he’s looking for his person.

1.       She must be established…in other words, have a good career or have goals set to obtain a good career…whether that means being in school, busting your ass at work, etc.  Basically he wants someone intelligent who isn’t a lazy sack of shit.  Fair enough.
2.       Sex appeal.  This is obvious and understandable.  He doesn’t care if the pope would call you sexy but if he can’t wait to get his hands on you that’s all he cares about.  He just wants someone he will adore and who will want to fuck his brains out for the rest of your lives.  He’s a very sexual person so sexual chemistry is important to him.
3.       Sauce is a very giving man.  Even if he didn’t have a penny to his name he would give you the shirt off his back if he knew it would make you happy.  He wants nothing more than to completely love, adore and spoil a girl and asks that she be someone who would be willing to give of herself as well.  He has dated some very selfish girls in the past and even something as simple as cooking him eggs would rock his world.

All in all I think these are three very reasonable, understandable and necessary things for almost any relationship.  I don’t think he’s asking for a lot or too much by trying to find someone who possesses those qualities.  He ran down this list for me last night, elaborated on it a lot and we bantered back and forth.  He then proceeded to tell me he already knows I have two out of the three and would venture to guess I’d be more than capable of spoiling him.  Deep breath…is he coming on to me???  Then he says “Mrs. Sauce”…yes, has a nice ring to it.  Whether it was the wine, the heat, the growing need to just grab his face and kiss him I just couldn’t seem to do anything but sit there and smile.  What am I a fucking doll??  PYT where is your voice???  That would have been a perfect time to ask what exactly he’s getting at.  To have what may eventually be a difficult, awkward conversation of whether or not friends should go to another level.  But the moment passed and we ended up in a serious, hot as shit lip lock.  Fair trade.  There is a chance he just likes the way all this sounds because perhaps he’s lonely or just wants to practice for the future and he doesn’t have intentions of trying to date me but at that moment it didn’t matter.

Frankly, I did have a slight moment of panic.  While I was sitting there trying to make heads of tails of what all this pointed to there were a few things going through my head.  First and foremost…chill the fuck out. “ Live in the moment and just enjoy yourself.  You’re going to ruin the fun if you just sit there overanalyzing.”  So that helped a bit.  Once I was able to push the thoughts out of my head I was able to relax and enjoy things.  But then a slight panic came over me.  Holy shit…if and it’s a big IF…Sauce would want to date me I don’t know how I feel about it.  Would I want to date him??? Yeah, no idea.  The idea of being in a relationship set a slight and quick panic over me.  Which was insanely confusing.  Am I not the girl who just last week was freaking the fuck out because my ex is in a relationship and I’m not?  The girl who lies in bed wanting someone to snuggle with?  The girl would got so sick of awful first dates I swore I was going to go on a dating hiatus?  Is this girl not actually ready for a relationship?  Does this girl really want to be single and continue to have all the fun that goes with it??

The Juicy Details:  The fact is…I apparently have no idea what I want.  I’m pretty sure I didn’t muster up the balls to ask Sauce flat out what he was getting at because I’m not sure if I’m ready to hear the answer.  But I suppose the good thing is that I don’t need to be.  I don’t have to know what I want and I don’t have to figure it out.  Perhaps it’ll just figure itself out.  Wouldn’t that be great?  Call me delusional but I believe if I just let things go their course that is exactly what will happen.  Things will just fall into place.  Whether that means I continue on my dating rampage, I (gulp) date Sauce or we continue on with our awesome friendship/make-out goodness (and how can you go wrong with straddling a hot guy in a hot tub)…what will happen will happen and who gives a shit so long as I’m happy??  I’ll tell you this…I left last night very happy.  When we finally pulled our pruned selves out of the hot tub (after being in there for almost 3hrs) we dried off and I changed and realized I had to leave if I was going to get any sleep before I left for work in the morning.  Sauce walked me to my car, as per usual, and we stood there kissing for a while longer.  Before he walked away he asked about my schedule for the rest of the week so we can make plans.  I’ll tell you Sauce is a total flake when it comes to plans..but I am looking forward to us eventually hanging out again.  It’s always fun when I see him.

A Boat...A Beer...A Boy

Wow, I haven’t posted in a week…what the fuck is wrong with me?  Well, lets be honest, that’s a stupid question…I’m a lazy bastard.  I’ll admit I do a lot of thinking, a lot of mental noting, a lot of bullshitting to people about my blog but do I ever sit down, discipline myself for at least 5 fucking minutes and pump out a few entries…hell to the no.  Apparently, I’d much rather google decorating ideas or read dating message boards and respond to other peoples issues or go on facebook half a dozen times within the hour…and with every click of the shitty mouse my job gave me I keep thinking why can’t I just write that stupid post I’ve been thinking about for the past 4 days (and yes, I’m doing all of this from the comfort constraints of my desk, somehow people here think I’m super productive)

The newest adventure involves not a date but a first encounter.  Last Friday I was going out for a friends birthday to this awesome bar on a boat in the city.  Once again the getting out of work at 3:30 devil reared its ugly head because I was slated to arrive to the bar before everyone else.  This actually turned out to be a major score in the parking department being that I managed to get a spot on the west side highway right in front of the bar…my aggravation faded for about 15min as I basked in the glory of my achievement.  Then as my car began heating up from the sun beating in and I felt myself begin to cook I started to lose my patience.  I decided the best thing to do would be to get out and go stand by the water, get some fresh air and enjoy the views (both of the water and the gorgeous men walking onto the boat).

I’d like to note at this time that as of recently (aka a couple of weeks ago) I feel like I’ve given up on guys.  Given up in the sense that I just don’t give a shit.  You want to talk to me?  Sure.  You want my number?  Sure.  You want to kiss me?  Sure, only if your hot.  Through all of this however, I have zero expectations…meaning I don’t expect phone calls, texts, dates, facebook friend invites…nada, zilch, nothing.  It takes a lot of stress out of things and helps me to not to get disappointed…I mean when you expect nothing, anything you do get is like a pleasant surprise.

So I was sitting there praying to god I wouldn’t pee myself (I had to go from the minute I left work and it was now about 5:30 so two hours of the pee-pee dance was a little insane) and trying to distract myself with a little brick breaker on my BB when I suddenly feel someone standing over me.  I look up and this seriously hot guy, Casanova, is standing over me with this great big smile.  He thrusts out his hand to introduce himself and I hear his buddies cheering in the background.

After he’s done making me blush by calling me “so beautiful” about a dozen times, kissing my hand and just all around being perfectly adorable he asked if I’d be going to the Frying Pan as well and said I should find him inside so he could by me a drink.  ::sigh::  If only I believed the words coming out of his beautiful Italian lips.  Either way, I just got a HUGE confidence booster and forgot about how badly I had to pee and how fucking long it was taking my girls to get there.

Patches finally arrived and while I was sorry for bugging the shit out of her knowing she was stuck in a cab in traffic I was soo excited to get inside to the bathroom and also tell her about Casanova…turns out I did this simultaneously because I couldn’t wait for either one.  A bucket of beer later Patches and I decide to ditch the group and check out the views (the sunset and the cuties).  All was wonderful.  Then on our way to the bar to get ourselves a pitcher of sangria we literally bump into Casanova.  He naturally realizes who I am and to my luck so do his friends “oh my god it’s the girl from the bench!”  We all stand there laughing and chatting as Casanova makes a total spectacle of himself, which I admit I’m totally eating up.  He’s dancing (and there is no music playing anywhere), he’s telling me the sweetest things and complements just every bone in my body and is nearly drooling over my bangs.  His poor friends heard “how cute is she?” so many times I was surprised none of them were vomiting overboard.

The two events which happened next were surprising, amazing (?), hilarious and a little umm wacky but I was in my “I don’t give a fucking fuck” mode so I was rolling with it.  Casanova grabs my face in his hands and before I know it plants a kiss right on my lips after which I hear his buddy scream “no way! Was there tongue?!”  no, sorry to disappoint no tongue but wow did that just happen?  Before I could say that out loud he was going in for another and in a desperate attempt not to look like some slut that just kisses random guys at a bar I slowly turn my head to the side and give Cas some cheek.  He wasn’t too fond of this and quickly gave me a lecture on his amazing lips.  Oh Cas…

After a little more of the kissing game he goes back to telling me “Your so beautiful, its all your mothers fault”  and you may think after hearing this for a while it would get old…but honestly, it doesn’t.  Even thinking about it now makes me laugh.  Fact is he could have been completely full of shit but it really didn’t matter because I was getting a kick out of hearing it just as much as he was by saying it.  I had been holding my phone in my hand this whole time because a good friend of mine I haven’t seen in a long time was coming to meet us and I didn’t want to miss his call so I could tell him where we are standing.  Apparently Cas took this as an invitation to grab my phone and actually CALL my MOM!!!  Why?? Well, to tell her how wonderful I am and that its all her fault I’m so beautiful.  I shit you not.  He handed me the phone after he was done because she wanted to talk to me.  Yes, of course she does because now she thinks her daughter has been abducted by some crazy she always warned me about.

Finally its time to part from Casanova and his buddies because my friend got there and frankly, I didn’t want to just hang around like some groupie who doesn’t have anything better to do.  Bye Cas, it was so much fun.

The Juicy Details:  Aside from all the stolen kisses, which there were plenty of, Casanova’s great lips (I will attest to the fact that he was 100% telling the truth about those) he seems like a real quality guy.  Totally my type across the board which shocked me and just seriously loveable.  He has a fantastic personality.  Before he let me get away he insisted I give him my number so he could take me out for a really nice dinner…oh, so sweet.  I give him a few rolls of my eyes because I don’t believe a word of this but I give him my number anyway and as a joke (which he took literally) I told him to save my number in his phone as “The love of my life”.  Well, I can tell you that I was so surprised to get a text from him on Monday saying “Heyy, its Casanova from Frying Pan, just wanted to say hi”  To which I eventually replied “Hi back :)” “How was your weekend?”  A few days later and nothing in return yet.  So 1) I figured that would be the case so no real surprise there and 2) I’m really annoyed because who actually texts just to say Hi?!?!  I never thought people really did that.  You are a weird one Cas.  I will keep you posted as to whether or not he says anything more then hi but lets not count on it.  I would like to thank him for an extremely memorable evening either way!

Lights....Camera....Astoria!

From time to time I take notice of these little unintentional trends in my dating life.  I stress unintentional because they are purely coincidences that I don’t typically realize until after the fact and are not things I try to seek out.  In fact, I feel the only purpose these trends tend to serve is to make me feel I need more variety when it comes to the men I’m dating.  Two examples…I have dated an overwhelming number of men whose first name starts with the same letter…this may seem silly but when that letter is also the start of  the first name of your ex who you’re not too fond of it gets aggravating…I feel like its haunting me and I don’t like it…stop it you stupid letter, I’m so done with you!  Another is careers…I seem to keep coming across these men who work in similar career paths…now before you start shaking your head at me thinking I’m being ridiculous or nit-picky understand I’m not talking about common careers like teachers, accountants or cops…I’m talking about ooh I don’t know…producers for instance.  Yes, I said producers, and after my date on Thursday I have now gone out with 3…THREE…men with aspirations to “make-it” in the world of entertainment.  The first worked in movies, the second for HBO and the third commercials.  I know for some of you hearing this will be like finding out there is not Santa Claus (my apologies for letting that slip to those who didn’t already know) but the reality is the film/television industry as far as I’ve seen is not all the glitz and glam we are lead to believe it is.  Sure its cool and I’m sure its really thrilling at times but so is walking across a steel beam several hundred feet in the air…so, until one of these men offers me a part in something they are working on I remain unimpressed.

Allow me to introduce produce number 3...Splint.  I know that so far I’ve given all the men more or less actual names but in this case, Splint works well.  Splint is a 100% Greek guy raised in CT, living in Astoria (shocker!) and I’m sorry to say that yes, his parents own a restaurant but it’s a pizza place not a diner…I know I was disappointed too, looks like there are no gyros and French fries with an extra side of tzatziki(white sauce) in my future, so sad.  Splint actually started to annoy me even before our first date with the constant texting.  Don’t get me wrong, I am all for modern technology and I’m well aware of the turns dating has taken over the past few years but there is still something to be said for old school conversation.  I refuse to accept a date over a text message…and I was starting to get the impression Splint may have thought he could get away with that.  Why must I teach these boys everything??  Lucky enough he got the hint, picked up the phone and called me.  Bravo, Splint, Bravo.  We had a nice chat and made plans to meet up in Brooklyn the next day since it was a good middle ground.  He said he was off from work so he could get there anytime I wanted…it all seemed almost too easy.

And naturally it was.  Just as I’m about to leave work I get a txt saying that he would need to meet up an hour later then we planned if we still meet up in Brooklyn.  Here is that devil of my early departure from work rearing its ugly head again.  I had already killed more time then I could possibly bare at work and was at the point that Splint either had to hurry the fuck up and get to Brooklyn, make new plans or I was ready to cancel.  Ultimately it was decided that I would go to Astoria...typically I don’t love going to the guy on a first date, its really nice for a guy to come to you…but whatever it wasn’t that far and I’ve always wanted to check out the bars in Astoria.

I arrive in Astoria and after circling the blocks by his apartment I finally find a spot with a meter…not cool…but then discover its broken…so cool!  Things are looking up.  As I walk down the block towards his place he’s standing outside and I notice something funny…his arm is all bandaged up…and if its not already painfully obvious that is why we call him Splint.  He tells me a quick story about soccer (a Greek playing soccer…another shocker lol) and hurting his arm, I wasn’t really paying attention because I was too busy staring at the small army of chest hairs poking out of the collar of his shirt.  What TMI??  Yes, well those were my thoughts exactly.  I know, Greeks are hairy…I honestly wish I could stop with all the stereotyping but hey they have stereotypes for a reason right? And besides, I’m half Greek so I’m allowed…anyway, this was a little much for me being that I hate excessive hair.  Facial hair, chest hair, back hair…no. thank. you.  I like a guy nice and smooth.  I tried to get past this as I nearly inhaled my first beer…partly because I was so hot and it was cooling me off and partly because I was soo hungry and being we hadn’t said anything about dinner I was doing the next best thing and filling up on carb filled beer…college taught me well.

A couple of beers later and my stomach has stopped yelling at me to feed it and Splint decided it was time to leave our first location because it “kinda sucks”.  Why the fuck would you take me to a place that you would describe as sucks with any word besides “doesn’t” in front of it.  Idiot.  Then he redeems himself and makes the best suggestion of all…that we head over to the Beer Garden.  I was trying my best to play it cool but secretly I was doing flips inside…I have heard about this Beer Garden from as long as I could really understand what one was and I have always wanted to go.  In fact I hear a lot of great things about the nightlife in Astoria but I seem to always fail when trying to get my friends to take a trip out there with me.  Maybe if I can experience some of this awesomeness my eyewitness report will be enough to convince them.

As we walk to the garden I notice that the rumors about Astoria being a Greek filled place are all true…restaurants, lawyers, clubs, etc almost every store front has a Greek name, flag, smell, etc associated with…and I’m not going to lie I was loving it.  We passed a little cafĂ© and Splint promised he was going to buy my Mom pastries there on the way back…oh sure I said completely rolling my eyes and laughing thinking he actually believes I bought that.

Well the beer garden was fun…after we sampled about 5 different beers (and I hated all of them) we finally found something we both liked and he got a pitcher for us.  I’m not sure how much he was expecting me to drink but there was no way I was having half that pitcher, I had to drive home and sleeping over because I drank too much was not an option.  We are finally ready to leave and as we are walking back Splint pulls me into the cafĂ© we passed earlier and begins ordering some delicious desserts (in Greek, which I was actually able to follow) for me to take home to my mom.  I wasn’t sure if I was impressed with his kindness or a little put off being that we just met…I settled with somewhere in between.  He stood there and made me promise that I wouldn’t eat them on the way home before my mom got to try them…ok, listen Splint I’m not some sort of fat-ass who can’t contain herself to the point where I’m going to tear into a ribbon wrapped box of pastries and start chowing down with my bare hands while driving.  In other words, they will make it home in one piece.

The Juicy Details – This should probably be called the hilarious details this time but lets just get on with it…Splint walks me to my car to say good night…this is always the part that gets me most giddy because I always look forward to seeing how a guy approaches this if we haven’t kissed yet during the night.  Watching him weave and bob his way around my face in the midst of deciding “do I go in for the kiss” is just amazing.  Splint was a classic!!!  I can’t tell you how many times he kissed my cheek, the other cheek, my forehead, gave me a hug and said good night.  Eventually I felt bad for the guy and offered to drive him (half a block lol) down to his apartment in hopes of giving him another opportunity to sneak in for the kiss…ultimately it was a big fail…it was more of the weaving and bobbing and I almost felt bad enough seeing him struggle to just grab his face and make it happen just to put him out of his misery…but…I didn’t :)  I’m truly evil sometimes.  Besides always leave them wanting more right?
And there is certainly some truth to that because Splint definitely wants to go out again…he’s only texted me about it half a dozen times and I swear if he sends me one more text to ask me what I think about that I may lose it.  Will there be a sequel...?  Guess we'll have to wait and see...but you know what they say...sequels are never as good as the original...and when the original was only ok you dont have too much material to work with.  Stay tuned....

We click like a Pin and a Stripe....

Well, as I mentioned Pinstripe followed through on his promise and sent me a text…and another and another, etc…but very infrequently…so infrequently that this boy was testing my patience (of which I really have none).  My friends tell me all the time that when you first meet someone its common that you speak and communicate sparingly.  I just don’t get this concept…I can’t really wrap my head around it.  The way I function is less with the games and more with this is how it is and take it or leave it…I wouldn't say I wear my heart on my sleeve but I'm not very good at repressing or hiding my feelings...perhaps this is a contributor to my lack of success?  Who knows.  But either way Pinstripe would text one day, I’d respond the next…insert another day or two of silence and more of the same…wash, rinse, repeat.  I ultimately got to the point where I was annoyed and getting seriously bored with this.  Is this guy ever going to say anything other than mundane bullshit…if he asked me one more time about my weekend or made one more joke about shots or anything pertaining to do with the night we met without asking me to hang out I was going to freak.

So, being the person I am (blunt and honest about my feelings) I sent him a text one Friday afternoon saying “So are we ever actually going to grab drinks again?”…and just as soon as I hit send I realize…fuck, I STILL don’t know his NAME!!!  I’ve now placed myself into a mini panic trying to find a way to get around this in the event he agrees to get together.  What have I done?  And just as I started to calm myself down…hell froze over…I get a text back from Pinstripe which said “If you can tell me my name, we can go out.”  YOU’VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!  Did I read that right?  Is this really happening?  I can’t even begin to guess what his name is, how am I going to respond to this?  I consider deleting the text and acting like I never got it…or making some kind of joke…and then I somehow come up with this “genius” response…”How about we play the what was I wearing, what do I do game?”  Clearly he’s onto me and there is no reason at this point to pretend otherwise and in the long run make myself look like a real idiot…so I came up with the cutest, most flirty way to admit he’s right without actually saying so.

Just as my girls and I are clanking our glasses together to toast to my cleverness my phone starts vibrating and its Pinstripe!!  Cue mini panic button again.  Now, let me put this situation into perspective for you…its Friday night, probably around 9:30 or so…I’m out with my girlfriends and we had been drinking since happy hour…I was in no shape to have a decent conversation with a guy whose name I do not know.  But thankfully the conversation went fabulously.  We chatted, I learned his name, we joked a bit and we agreed to get together soon.

After that conversation things just went full throttle…the texts got more frequent, he sent me cute pictures, we chatted on the phone a bit (I’m talking marathon conversations…like when your cell starts burning your ear) and more and more I start to grow to really like this guy…well, as much as you can like someone your ‘text dating’.  Yes, I made that up so just go with it.  The more we talk the better he gets…the fact is I felt like I knew more about him then guys I’ve gone on multiple dates with.  He made me laugh constantly, totally made me blush with texts like “Have I told you lately I like you”  it seemed too good to be real.

Finally we make plans to get together.  We were supposed to go see a band and meet up with a bunch of his friends.  I meet him at his apartment and one glass of wine got refilled one too many times and we end up skipping the show.  We were so caught up in conversation that there were no distractions necessary.  I completely left it up to him if he wanted to go or not since he wanted to see the band and it was his friends we were meeting.  But he chose to stay.  Somehow the conversation turned to sore muscles or massages or something along those lines (and stop rolling your eyes, this is the oldest trick in the book I know)…and before I know it I was rubbing his back and then we are full on making out.  It was like a month of tension built up over the phone was just pouring out.  It was fabulous and I was totally getting my make-out fix.  Props to Pinstripe for being a good kisser.

Eventually its 3:30am…not really eventually more like suddenly…I felt like the last time I checked the clock it was 11:30 so how the hell did 4hrs pass?!?  Time flies so they say.  Well I realize I need to get going before I fall asleep there or while I’m driving home…neither of which would be ok…time to break myself away and be responsible.  Pinstripe is a total gentleman and walks me to my car and we say good night.

The Juicy Details:  The following week I’m crazy busy and I suppose he was as well because our texts are fairly infrequent but I think nothing of it until I get a message from him saying “Sorry, work week is crushing me”  I respond the next day assuring him its not a big deal and to hang in there since there is one day left.  Then the kicker…1am Thursday night/Friday morning I get a text (which I don’t see until I wake up to pee at 3am) which says “Sorry I have been lacking in response…things just got a little weird with an ex girlfriend of mine and I’m trying to sort it out”  HUH??  So, I spend the next day stressing about how I respond to something like when I can’t even figure out why he felt it was necessary to tell me that.  We met once, briefly, we have hung out once since then…we are not in a serious relationship let alone any form of a relationship on any level…there is such a thing as being too honest and there are points in time when even the most open and honest people need to learn that full disclosure is not always necessary or welcomed.  So, eventually I respond “Ok”  Fact is, as much as I want to see Pinstripe again he has really thrown me for a loop and I have some serious mixed emotions…that coupled with the fact that even though most try to tell me otherwise I truly believe he may have just changed his mind and that was the best excuse he could come up with…instead of taking the mature road and just saying so (I've never really understood the beat-around-the-bush act).  I suppose we’ll see what happens but in the meantime I have no expectations of him ever contacting me again.  You win some, you lose some.

Pinstripes...not just for Yankees

I’m not a big believer or fan of meeting someone who is potential relationship material in a bar.  I’m not saying its impossible or its 100% unsuccessful, however, in my experience and honest opinion I give it two enthusiastic thumbs down.  Sure you can find a hottie to bust some moves on a dance floor with, maybe you’ll kiss…and if its your thing maybe you’ll be doing the walk of shame in the morning…who knows.  But meeting your next SO…I think not.  I know it happens, I have friends who are successful…and maybe I’m being too harsh or too much of a skeptic but its just not for me.

Imagine my surprise when one night I actually meet someone out at a bar.  I’m out with Ox (which is always a blast & always trouble of the best kind) and we are bouncing from place to place…by the point we walk into one of our favorite spots we’re definitely feeling pretty good.  As the night goes on I head to the bar to grab a beer and as I turn my head towards the door I see this guy walk in.  He’s a very nice looking guy but definitely not my type by looks alone…he’s got the height but the rest is a little off.  Well, he either caught me staring or he just happened to walk over and stand near me but I’m going with the former since I know I have a heavy and obvious stare....and this is where it all began.  See, this guy waltzes into this very casual, very laid back Irish bar in a button down and pinstripe suit.  I was baffled and had the liquid courage to tell him so.  It went a little something like this:

PYT: Why the fuck are you wearing a pinstripe suit to the bar?

Pinstripe: Um, excuse me?? (clearly stunned that a random girl was being such a bitch)

PYT: What are you doing here in a pinstripe suit?  Don’t you think it’s a bit much?

Pinstripe:  I just got off of work.

PYT: what? Its like 10:30 on a Friday, what are you like a lawyer?
(now, don’t ask me why the first thing that came to my head is a lawyer but it was, so lets roll with it)

Pinstripe: Um no, I work in the music industry
(at this point I’m getting bored because I think he’s just making shit up, so I continue being a total snot)

PYT: Oh yeah right, I’m sure…so describe what you do.

So he proceeds to describe his job which actually sounded pretty cool and then asked if I wanted a shot.  Wow, after all that he still wants to buy me a drink…can’t turn that down.  I’m still not feeling interested in him in the sense of being really attracted or picturing us on our first date but its been fun to banter back and forth.  Finally he pulls out his phone as asked me for my number.  Now I proceed to break out my skepticism and blabber on about how men never call or text like they promise and its stupid to give out your number blah blah blah.  How this guy didn't walk away or pour a beer over my head by this point still shocks me.  Anyway, he persists and says he really needs to go and change because he’s dying of heat…to which I naturally respond “Yeah no shit your wearing that pinstripe suit in the bar.”  Why am I so obsessed with this damn suit?!  Anyway, Pinstripe gets my number…he asked me to enter it and fill in the names completely…so I put my first name, nickname (he requested for god knows what reason lol) and used the name of the bar as my last name because at the time it seemed logical…now he’ll remember where he met me.  Fantastic.  Pinstripe leaves along with my number, I head back over to Ox, grab another beer and don’t give him a second thought since I already put him in the ‘that was fun in the moment’ category.

The Juicy Details:  Well, not too much to say after this encounter except that he actually did text as promised.  We exchanged a couple of messages that night and once again I didn’t think I’d hear from him after that.  Until the next day when he sent another message.  I had one issue…if this was going to continue I was in trouble since I never saved his number in my phone the night before because I knew it was him at the time…I had completely forgotten his name by morning.  Shit.  So, now I’m texting this guy whose name I don’t know wondering if it will eventually come and bite me in the ass…guess we’ll find out.

The Office...Episode 2

At some point it was bound to happen…I had a second date.  Hallelujah!  A man I actually want to see again and who feels the same towards me.  I don’t want to get carried away but maybe all hope isn’t lost for men.

There is something I’ve always liked about second dates.  I mean I really like first dates (and no, I’m not just saying that) but second dates are exciting.  The anticipation of seeing someone who just gave you butterflies, made you smile, got you to blush or occupied your thoughts throughout the next day is hard to beat.  You’re at a higher level of comfort where you can ask deeper questions, talk more freely, sit a little closer and let your touch linger a little longer.  Its more affectionate and more fun.  The only part that leaves me uneasy is the first hello…if you kissed goodbye on the first date do you kiss hello on the second?  I’ve found this varies on a case by case basis and I always let the guy make the first move.  So it’s like a sweet little surprise when he plants one right on you when he sees you…like oh my gosh he was definitely just as excited to see me…if not, you get to build up more anticipation as you wait for that first second date kiss.

Jim had planned for us to get dinner and then have drinks on a roof deck…two great ideas, especially in the summer.  One of the biggest struggles I’ve been facing in my dating life is the time I leave work compared to the rest of your average working population with the exception of teachers and I guess maybe people such as doctors, nurses, firemen or police  depending on their shift.  I am out of work at 3:30…granted I go in at 7am…but I get out nice and early in return.  Whenever I have a date planned it always means that I’m going to have a bunch of time to kill before the date.  So in this case we had plans to meet around 6:30ish and it was only going to take me about 20-30min to get by his apartment.  So I killed some time at work and stayed late and even still I ended up with over an hour to myself.  Thankfully there was a pier nearby so I was able to sit and relax by the water till Jim got off the train.

Once he got there we took a quick run up to his apt so he could drop off his bag…his room was immaculate btw, so very clean and organized it made me feel like a slacker and my room is typically put together…good sign.  Finally we get to dinner at this sweet little Cuban place and the conversation just goes full force.  I found out so much about him and vice versa, on a level I never expected.  He made me laugh, impressed me and even shocked me a bit.  There was more to him I would have never guessed.  We spent a couple of hours at dinner because we just got so caught up.  He had this way of looking at me and just got me all kinds of tickled and I couldn’t get enough.

When we finally leave the restaurant we’re both surprised to see that its pouring outside.  He’s in a button down and slacks…I’m in a cute ruffled dressed and heels…neither of us has an umbrella.  Well, I said what the hell, lets just walk...I’m no prima donna and a little water wont kill me, plus I really do love the rain...not necessarily in a dress and heels but who am I to be picky.  So we walk hand in hand through the rain…stop for a few kisses which is just wonderful…then he asked if I want to go back and hang out at his place since clearly roof top drinks couldn’t happen.  At that moment I was so torn, I swear there was a devil and angel sitting on my shoulders.  On the one hand I really didn’t want the night to end, we were having a great time and I really wanted to take the opportunity to get to know him better and as I've mentioned I am a sucker for good kisses and I would have loved nothing more then to snuggle on the couch and just make out high school style (yes, I just said that...and yes, I'm serious...just think about it for a minute and how fun it really could be...)…now, on the other hand I heard one of my best friends Ox in my head when he once told me “Anytime I get a girl back to my apartment I know I got it in the bag.” or something to that effect.  Translation…he knows he can get her in bed if he wants to.  Now clearly this isn’t true for every guy and clearly he doesn’t mean that’s true for every girl but for some reason it was enough to freak myself out….I didn’t want to be THAT girl.  So, I voiced my struggle with him, he begged me to stay and I ultimately decided to leave.  Always leave them wanting more right??  But does that apply when you leave yourself wanting more as well?? Stupid.

I tried to justify leaving in my own head by saying it was a good thing to go while it wasn't raining too hard and it wasn't too late since I wasn't 100% sure how to get home from where we were.  Forget about making out high school style I was acting with the maturity level of someone in high school...I'm an adult, I dont have a curfew, what in the shit was I thinking???  I regretted my decision the entire way home and sent him a txt to tell him I wish I had stayed out of fear he would think I was blowing him off and wasn’t interested.  I hope it worked.

The Juicy Details:  Kissing in the rain is amazing.  Kissing Jim in the rain was so fun.  I could have stood there kissing for as long as my body temperature could stand it.  After my text he replied that we would do it again soon…always good to hear.  So, now we wait and see if there will ever be a third date with Jim...though I couldn't completely blame him if there wasn't after what I pulled.
